I Like

Hands at Disco | Kylie Crawford | Mixed Media

I Like by Mekelle Boshel

i like to touch their face

soft under the morning glow

a chill like fresh spring dew

ripples under my fingertips

i like to imagine i’m the moon

and they’re the tides

destined to be apart forever

but one cannot be without

one another

i like to feel them next to me

their warmth radiating like a hot oven

in a cold room

i like to stare and collect their features

i’m keeping a scrapbook

for only me to appreciate

i like how they tap me

on the shoulder

like rain pattering against my window

i want us to be hand in hand forever

let the trials of time test our love

and as the tides dissipate

and the moon crumbles

we will still

stand
